UMB Bank Sr. Automation Systems Engineer (PowerShell) (Hybrid / Remote) in Washington, District Of Columbia

The Automation Infrastructure Services team is responsible for assisting in the building of automation strategies within UMB. This would include collaborating with different teams within UMB to design automation using various tools such as PowerShell, Python, Shell Scripting, Ansible, etc.

As a Sr. Automation Systems Engineer, you will be leading the efforts in advancing operational efficiencies through identifying and automating repeatable tasks, enhancing monitoring and remediation, and driving automation to be pervasive across the UMB environment. As a senior-level engineer, you will also be involved in mentoring and training less experienced automation engineers, collaborate with broader teams on automation activities, and participate in project and team meetings. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which involves other multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. This role is hybrid (Tue & Wed on-site) for candidates in the Kansas City metropolitan area and open to qualified remote candidates outside of the Kansas City area but only within the US.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Define and execute core infrastructure services and common design patterns for computing, storage, networking, operational, and security domains. This will include developing and maintaining automation frameworks for platform provisioning consumed by application product teams.

  • Advise application product teams on incorporating infrastructure capabilities.

  • Actively collaborate with site reliability engineers to develop patterns, templates, and standards for pipeline automation.

  • Identify emerging infrastructure services to meet business resiliency requirements.

  • Actively develop and support self-service catalogs for infrastructure provisioning and make them available to application teams. This includes ensuring infrastructure provisioning automation meets IT general controls and that solutions are deployed in safe, secure, resilient and compliant manner.

  • Provide thought leadership and creating solutions built with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and Shell Scripting components.

We’re excited to talk with you if:

  • You have a degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field OR equivalent IT work experience.

  • You have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in DevOps or PowerShell automation/scripting. This includes troubleshooting and maintenance of scripts.

  • You have strong experience with automation methodologies, strategies, best practice, and process improvement.

  • You have experience with Metrics, Events Logging, and Tracing solutions using Splunk.

Bonus Points If:

  • You have experience with Python, Ansible, Bash, and/or Shell Scripting.

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $83,200.00 - Maximum: $214,560.00
