FANNIE MAE VP, Chief Privacy Officer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description The VP, Chief Privacy Officer is responsible for developing and implementing privacy policies, conducting privacy impact assessments, providing employee training on privacy matters, and collaborating with legal and IT teams to safeguard confidential information. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer.

The VP, Chief Privacy Officer role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

Lead Fannie Mae’s Privacy Office

designed to identify, measure, mitigate and manage the risks associated with collection, use, sharing, transmission, retention, and disposal of personally identifiable and confidential information.

  • Provide subject matter expertise with respect to privacy law compliance to the Board of Directors, senior management, employees; advise senior management and the Board.

  • Lead Fannie Mae’s response to consumer Personal Information Request inquiries.

  • Lead privacy event triage and response.

Lead and design strategies and processes

to address privacy compliance concerns within evolving technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence (AI)).

Provide effective challenge to business unit management

regarding privacy and confidential information risks and controls.

  • Oversee the Privacy Office’s assessment, monitoring, testing and enterprise training and awareness using a risk-based approach.​

  • Manage employees responsible for performing privacy oversight assessments, tests and risk and performance monitoring activities.

Develop and update privacy policies

and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Ensure polices align with industry best practices and evolving privacy laws.

  • Communicate policy requirements to employee population.

Qualifications THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Ideally 7+ years of experience in areas of privacy and data protection laws and practices, with an in-depth understanding of US Federal and state-level privacy laws.

  • 6+ years of experience in a leadership/management capacity, ideally serving in a risk or compliance function.

  • Preferred experience managing or advising privacy compliance program at a large, highly regulated financial institution.

  • Strong and effective leadership, strategic, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to influence effectively with all levels of management, building effective work relationships both internally and externally.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required. Postgraduate degree in Law or relevant field (information security, privacy, compliance) is highly desired.

  • Required certification in privacy (CIPP and/or CIPM).
