The Director of Supply Chain for multiple sites in a matrixed organization is responsible for overseeing and improving all aspects of the supply chain process across the organization. This includes production planning, materials management, purchasing, logistics, and inventory control.

They will be working collaboratively with other departments, such as operations, sales, and finance, to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the supply chain. They will also work closely with suppliers to develop strong relationships and ensure timely delivery of goods and services at the best possible price.

The Director of Supply Chain must be able to lead a team towards common goals, manage multiple priorities, and be committed to ongoing process improvements. It will be their responsibility to ensure proper processes are followed for supply chain management, including compliance with applicable regulations and laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define and deploy GENERAC’s disciplined operating model in supply chain that supports operational excellence and a multi-year roadmap of strategic initiatives to build capabilities that support global, regional and site-level objectives;

  • Collaborate with executive management and key stakeholders to develop & execute strategies for improving business processes and related systems;

  • Ensure Supply Chain and Production Execution capabilities in sync to maximize productivity and maintain lowest cost of operation;

  • Develop and challenge resources to improve performance through systems utilization and process improvements;

  • Lead and improve Order Management best practices, processes and policies that drive perfect order logic including order types/policies, standardized lead times/tier pricing strategies, available-to-promise (ATP), customer resource management (CRM) and electronic data interchange (EDI);

  • Improve Demand Planning/Management using a One Number Plan approach and methodology to align financial, operation and material plans;

  • Improve Tactical Purchasing in conjunction with GENERAC’s Strategic Global Sourcing team to reduce lead times and improve material margins through Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model;

  • Lead and improve Material/Inventory Management best practices including Plan for Every Part (PFEP)., ABC Analysis, Purchasing Methods (PO, Blanket, etc), Warehouse Management (Cycle Count Accuracy, Transactions, Bar Coding, RFID) and Advance Replenishment Methods (MRP, Stocking Programs, VMI, Consignment, Re-Order Point and Direct Pull);

  • Lead processes to ensure continuity of supply throughout the operation to achieve uninterrupted supply of quality components and assemblies;

  • Champion standard GENERAC tools and methodologies and act as a recognized subject matter expert (SME) providing training and certification;

  • Provide and facilitate collaboration amongst team members and cross-functionally. Resolve differences and/or conflicts effectively;

  • Participate in the design and direction of the Supply Chain team. Select, coach and develop the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate. Manage organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development. Design and direct processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered and performance is systematically improved;

  • Define resource needs and work within budget and staffing parameters to accomplish objectives;

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related field OR equivalent experience;

  • 10 years’ experience within operations, business or supply chain;

  • 5 years’ experience as ERP/MRP (SAP, Oracle or JDE) Super user;

  • Willingness to travel both domestic and internationally (20-30%) and develop first hand understanding of sites and the wider organizational challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advance Degree, MS and/or MBA;

  • Strong Lean background, preferably in Demand Flow Principles and Practices;

  • Supply Chain/Material Certifications – CPM, CPIM;

  • Experience in collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions;

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior management, teams and individuals across multiple cultures, disciplines and geographies;

  • Sound business acumen operating in both High Mix, Low Volume and High Volume, Low Mix Production

  • Strong verbal and written communication competencies;

  • Strong organization and time management skills:

  • Solid quantitative skill set and the ability to analyze, think and communicate with well-supported data;

  • Strong problem solving skills; the ability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solutions;

  • Professional manner and personal maturity.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
