Vanguard NOC Network Engineer in Wayne, Pennsylvania
As part of a global Network Operations Center (NOC) team, provides network infrastructure support; primary responsibilities include administering, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting Vanguard’s network infrastructure.
This Hybrid role (requiring partial in-office attendance) can be based in either Charlotte, NC, or Wayne, PA.
In this role you will:
Open, update, and close ServiceNow Incident, Problem Management, Change Management records. Monitor records to ensure status is accurate and complete, and actions are completed within ITIL standards. Proactively reviews related records to identify requests that may have an impact on the network.
Provide tier-two level network operational support services including supporting large scale network installations, special projects; perform other related duties as assigned.
Participate in Major Incident Management activities, identifying network performance issues and trends (e.g., troubleshoot failing network components, reviews firewall for blocks, tracing of network traffic).
Review and interpret network diagrams and documentation, including policies and procedures.
Comply with Information Technology & Information Security policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve / automate manual system tasks.
Engage third party vendors for maintenance of supported devices.
Assist in training and mentoring staff.
What it takes:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field required. Two to four years related hands-on experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience required (Network experience with a financial organization is preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm while multi-tasking and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Intermediate knowledge and experience with: Infinistream Sniffer, APCON and other Packet Analyzer.
Intermediate knowledge and experience with the following technologies: Cisco IOS, Nexus OS, Juniper Junos, Cisco ACI, F5 Load Balancing, WAN, DNS, DHCP, IPSEC and AWS Direct Connect.
Intermediate experience working with the following platforms: Brocade Switches, Cisco platforms, Juniper routers, Cisco ASA Firewall, Palo Alto Firewall, Aruba Wi-Fi and F5 Big IP.
Experience with Service Now is preferred, or comparable ITSM tool.
