Job Summary:
Lumos is looking for a full-time GIS Analyst! As a GIS Analyst, you will play a critical role in managing geospatial data and providing accurate and timely analysis to support various projects. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and updating all 811 related data, DWG conversion, as well as utilizing your expertise in 3-GIS Web to enhance our geospatial capabilities. Essential Functions
:
- Maintaining and uploading all 811 related data on a weekly basis. This will involve interpreting construction plans, and inputting/exporting data into 3-GIS/ArcGIS Online.
- Perform geospatial analysis: Utilize GIS tools and techniques to analyze spatial data, identify trends, and provide insights for decision-making. You will collaborate with other teams to gather requirements and develop analytical models and visualizations.
- Maintain and update geospatial data: Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and currency of GIS data by regularly updating and maintaining relevant datasets. This includes verifying data quality, resolving discrepancies, and conducting data cleansing activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineering, operations, and other teams to understand their requirements and provide GIS support. Collaborate on projects that involve geospatial data analysis, infrastructure planning, and resource optimization.
- Provide technical support and training: Assist colleagues in utilizing GIS tools effectively and troubleshoot any issues they encounter. Conduct training sessions and develop documentation to promote GIS best practices across the rganization.
- Stay current with GIS trends and technologies: Continuously update your knowledge of GIS tools, techniques, and industry trends. Evaluate new technologies and recommend innovative approaches to enhance our GIS capabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Capability to comprehend network diagrams/maps, learn network terminology, and solve problems on the fly.
- Understanding of key telecom and mapping techniques through knowledge of numerous GIS/Fiber Management applications.
Other Experience and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 4-6 years of Telecommunication, GIS and/or CAD experience. Direct knowledge and hands-on use of 3-GIS, Esri products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise). Direct knowledge and hands-on use of other Fiber Management/CAD applications (Mapcom M4, CadTel, Autodesk). 3-GIS and/or Esri specific training/certifications a plus. Ability to use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) is required.
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary office work requiring near-constant use of sight, speech, hearing, comprehension, and computer and peripheral equipment.
