An Electrical Soldering Assembler in West Caldwell, NJ is currently available through Belcan. This is a contract role with our key electronics client. In this role, you will perform, with supervision, basic and routine electronic or hybrid assembly operations on components, printed circuit boards, or subassemblies in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using blueprints, visual aids, wiring lists, verbal and/or written instructions. The Assembler II may also be responsible for other processes related to the manufacture of electronic assemblies including, but not limited to: encapsulation (potting), conformal coating, SMT operations, and painting.

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Electrical Soldering Assembler Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform skilled soldering of circuit cards, touch up, jumper wires, through hole, and mag wire with use of microscope.

  • Execute hand assembly of cable assemblies, pin interface into connectors, masking/de-masking, crimping, stripping, riveting, touch up paint & chemical conversion, bonding and mixing chemical.

  • Use hand tools including but not limited to, soldering irons, solder suckers, torque wrenches, manual hand tools, power tools along with automated machine operation.

  • Visually check completed work against drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Recognize and assure correct values of electronic components: index and position mechanical components per drawing and specifications.

  • Cross-train to work on at least 2 products.

  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and internal policy.

  • Satisfactorily complete job-related company training courses

  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI"s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise.

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management.

Electrical Soldering Assembler Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Trade school or Vocational training preferred)

  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with soldering under a microscope is a must have (within last 2 years)

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

  • Strong verbal and written communication; Good reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents); Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)

  • Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment in a high-volume setting

  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001; proficient soldering and re-work techniques in accordance with IPC-610.
