Senior Accountant (hybrid)

This position is expected to have high visibility to the Senior Director of Finance & Business Performance and the Director of Finance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Support core finance and accounting processes.
• Preparation of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, financial statement analysis, support for budget and forecast processes.
• Ensure that balance sheets are accurately stated and reconciled to the general ledger. Research variances, determine root causes, and makes recommendations for adjustments.
• Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve operational issues as they relate to accounting or financial reporting.
• Enter monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry.
• Review financial statements for operating trends and results, researching variances to forecast and budget prior month and prior year.
• Prepare financial reports, analyzing data for management review.
• Demonstrate appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls and their application.
• Assist in the annual financial audit and preparation of tax return work papers.
• Research ways of streamlining and standardizing processes to support the Accounting function.
• Support financial planning and analysis and ad hoc projects as needed.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or equivalent work experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

EXPERIENCE

• Three to five years of finance or accounting experience.
• World-class organizational skills, encompassing an extremely high attention to detail, a strong ownership-ethic, and intense focus on accuracy and accountability.
• A self-starter who is also a team player with demonstrated abilities to collaborate effectively across the business.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Strongly demonstrated:

• Knowledge of Accounting processes and systems, including US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
• Demonstrated communication skills with internal customers
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with functional departments outside of Finance.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and quantitative analytical skills
• Ability to resolve issues and promote change.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access)
