Job Description

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do important work. We help customers in finding cures for cancer, protect the environment and make sure our food is safe.

How do we make an impact?

This role supports process development and quality control of biopharmaceutical products being developed. The successful candidate will understand the theory and will be able to troubleshoot and optimize experiments under supervision. Functions will also involve cleaning, calibration, and preventative maintenance of equipment As well as preparation of commonly used biological reagents and chemical supplies, and general lab support duties. The candidate encouraged to revise standard operating procedures as needed, and to participate in laboratory investigations.

We assist with production runs on a multi-kilo scale by setting up and running organic synthetic processes. We collect representative and reproducible reaction data, and run small-scale screening experiments. We coordinate and maintain parts inventory for production equipment. We maintain oversight of all facilities and manufacturing equipment including maintenance and upkeep of current machines as well as design, development, and installation of new equipment. We maintain detailed and complete product test records as per in house testing procedures and in accordance with site standards.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a consistent record to work in a cross-functional team environment and to optimally get along with all levels in the company

  • Job responsibilities are to be performed in compliance to company Environmental health and Safety (EHS) and Quality/GMP requirements responsible for maintaining cGMP logs daily, and maintain compliance with cGMP training

Education

  • Must have at minimum, an Associates degree in a Scientific field.

Experience

  • 0-3 years of proven experience in a laboratory setting. cGMP experience a plus!

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)

  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes (required for all colleagues), bump hats, and/or safety glasses.

  • Regularly required to lift 30 - 40lbs, and up to 50lbs occasionally.

  • Regularly use equipment including pushcarts, pallet jacks, mobile cylinders, forklifts, etc. to push/pull up to 100lbs

  • Regularly required to stand, walk and conduct manual material handling (twisting, bending, reaching, lifting, etc.) for prolonged periods.

  • Ability to work in environments with varied temperatures (cold rooms, outside, etc.)

  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
