We are looking for a Licensed Physical Therapist for our external client, a day school for children and youth with developmental disabilities. West Hempstead will be home base, but you may be expected to go to other schools on occasion (more discussion during interviews).

In this role you will be working with students with disabilities and serious health impairments.

This is a full-tie, permanent job. Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. Benefits are provided.

Pro-rated salary, depending on the years of experience:

  • Years 1-3 $88,850

  • Years 4 & 5 $90,000

  • Years 6-9 $95,000

  • Years 10+ $100,000

It is mandatory that you plan all vacations and necessary personal time during school holidays and school breaks.

An ideal candidate for this role would have Masters or Doctoral degree from a CAPTE-accredited program and a valid NYS Physical Therapy license from the New York State Office of Professions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the student's ability and formulates the student's profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.

  • Implements individual and group treatment for Physical Therapy.

  • Participating in multidisciplinary and parent conferences to discuss student progress, as well as offering recommendations for specific therapy programs relating to both individuals and groups of students.

  • Consulting with school and supervisory staff on matters relating to Physical Therapy including: instruction on therapeutic intervention; appropriate use of therapeutic equipment, methods, and instruction; and student's current level of function.

  • Consulting with parents/guardians regarding treatment goals, specialized therapeutic equipment, and other recommendations to enhance the student's functional ability within the classroom and home setting.

  • Ordering supplies and equipment as needed to carry out Physical Therapy program and maintaining ongoing inventory of these materials.

The salary range for this position is $88,850-$100,000/year
