Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Westminster, Maryland

Description

We are searching for a Payroll Specialist with a strong background in payroll processing and financial management to join our team in the manufacturing industry, based in Westminster, Maryland. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and involves managing various payroll and financial tasks, including processing transactions, auditing, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accurate and efficient processing of payroll, including manual checks and adjustments, and 401k changes.

• Interface with ADP for the bi-weekly payroll, ensuring the accuracy of all data.

• Coordinate tax changes and the addition of new state or local jurisdictions with ADP.

• Handle the annual payroll audit and ensure compliance with quality, product safety, rules and regulations.

• Process payables relevant to tuition reimbursement and garnishments.

• Review and approve expense reports on a weekly basis, and troubleshoot any errors.

• Manage corporate credit cards for employees and provide support as necessary.

• Verify the accuracy of journal entries keyed into the ERP system.

• Prepare and reconcile monthly reports, including hours and wages reports for the finance team and PTO accruals.

• Coordinate annual testing processes with the Payroll Manager and complete other projects as directed.

Requirements • Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and Dayforce payroll software

• Demonstrated experience in auditing payroll procedures to ensure accuracy

• Extensive knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations

• Experience in managing multistate payroll processes

• Familiarity with payroll garnishments and their legal implications

• Ability to manage payroll for over 500 employees

• Proven ability to reconcile payroll discrepancies

• Proficiency in Excel including the use of advanced formulas

• Experience in creating journal entries related to payroll

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection protocols

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred

• Relevant payroll certification, such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), is an advantage.
