Defense Finance and Accounting Service ACCOUNTS MAINTENANCE CLERK/ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN in Whitehall, Ohio

Responsibilities Performs duties for the full range of accounts and types of transactions including validating, monitoring, controlling, and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records/ledgers for multiple accounts. Reviews source documents to determine correct actions to be taken and verifies the accuracy and completeness of data required for the source document. Responds to questions from customers or co-workers regarding accounting data, discrepancies, and procedures. Researches minor problems covering all aspects of processing technical accounting data, compiles, analyzes, and summarizes data from systems, documents, and reports. Assists in monitoring operations' compliance to identify problem areas, determine actions required to improve operating program effectiveness, and ensure and maintain the integrity of financial and accounting information. Duties will be developmental in nature while performing below the full performance level (GS-05). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-04, or GS-05 with a target grade of GS-05. The minimum salary for grade GS-4 is $36,881 the maximum salary is $47,942. The minimum salary for grade GS-05 is $41,263, the maximum salary is $53,640. GS-04: One year of general experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. General experience is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-04 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing duties that support the processing of financial/accounting transactions using standardized procedures that may include reviewing financial/accounting systems information/documents for accuracy/completeness, inputting financial/accounting information into automated systems, or correcting invalid financial/accounting transactions. Volunteer Experience: Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Education Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement. GS-4: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Successfully completed Two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim). GS-5: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim). Combining Education and Experience Applicant may have a percentage of the education and experience which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position. IAW Public Law 112-81 and DoD Policy the incumbent shall comply with the requirements of DoD FM Certification Program.
