SUMMARY

Trainee under the supervision of departmental management, will prep assembly for sealing, retouch defective areas, performs other assembly duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned as required or needed

  • Understands spec sheets, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine setup and operating procedures.
  • Install collars on all Hi-Loks per BAC5004.
  • Learn and use basic hand tools such as drills, rivet guns, bucking bars, countersinks, etc
  • Setup and use of different countersinks used in the drilling process.
  • Able to remove and replace rivets and collars, with assistance.
  • Examine finished surfaces of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications; then retouch any defective areas.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and rags.
  • Read job orders and inspect workpieces to determine work procedures and materials required.
  • Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for assembly sealing, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, sandpaper, or cloth.
  • Rework parts, panels, and other products when needed.
  • Rework blemishes in workpieces, such as nicks or skin qualities per BAC Specifications.
  • Assembly using torque wrenches or automatic torque drills.
  • Promotes and utilizes standard safety practices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent. One year experience in aircraft assembly helpful but considered a trainee here.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate production problems, quality issues and other concerns or questions to departmental management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Good shop math skills. Ability to understand spec sheets.

REASONING ABILITY Must be quality conscious. Excellent problem solving skills. Maintain a professional work atmosphere by being courteous, respectful and non-interfering with customers, co-workers, and management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Ambulatory as position demands and the ability to lift 10-40 pounds. May be required to stand for extended periods of time. Good upper body strength with the ability to perform moderate repetitive movements which requires good use of hands/arms. Good eyesight with above average hand/eye coordination.
