Position Description

As a valuable member of our team as an ironworker, youll complete a wide range of tasks as directed by your foreman. Some of these tasks include cutting, rigging, hoisting, connecting, aligning, bolt-up, welding and bracing structural steel members.

Position Requirements Essential Functions:

  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
  • Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns
  • Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment
  • Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting
  • Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or torches
  • Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete

Requirements:

To succeed as an ironworker, an individual must be able to take direction and work with others as a team; follow company safety policies and participate in safety training programs; and demonstrate the ability to maintain and operate tools and equipment such as arc and wire-feed welders, grinders, quickie saw, rebar shear, porta-band saw, cutting torch, chain falls, torque wrench, TC Impact gun, Hogan drill and hammer drills.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing and walking for long periods
  • Lifting in excess of 40 lbs
  • Working inside and outside in all weather and temperature conditions
  • Varying noise levels that require ear protection
  • Working in cramped quarters
  • Frequently exposed to high places
