Robert Half Staff Accountant in Windsor, Connecticut

Description

Growing Property Management company in the Windsor area is looking for a Staff Accountant. Working with the Controller and being a contributing member of the Accounting team, you will be responsible for general ledger maintenance, assisting with month end close, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax return preparation, audit and special projects as assigned.

· Participate in the monthly, quarterly & annual financial close and budgeting processes including preparing & recording monthly journal entries and supporting schedules.

· Prepare monthly budget to actual variance analyses & quarterly fluctuation analyses.

· Serve as a support resource to other department staff (Assistant Controller, A/R, A/P).

· Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.

· Ensure that appropriate internal controls are adhered to.

· Maintain adequate documentation to support all accounting-related transactions.

Minimum requirements for the Staff Accountant include a Bachelor’s in Accounting, strong understanding of GAAP, 3+ years of transactional Accounting and advanced Excel / systems skills. Property Management experience a huge plus!

Base salary range of $70 - 75k plus benefits.

Requirements

  • Account reconciliation experience

  • Solid understanding of Journal Entry Preparation

  • Command of month end closings

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases
