MAJOR FUNCTION

Assist with coordinating facility schedules, customer service, information distribution, fields preparation and rule enforcement of Polk County BoCC parks. This position will work with Parks and Recreation Unit staff to coordinate park use and ensure a quality customer experience.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

Partner with the Facility Coordinator to ensure field usage by youth athletic leagues and renters is appropriate and scheduled. Provide guidance and information to current and potential customers. Educate users on park rules. Work with law enforcement, when needed, to ensure County policies are adhered to. Aid with field maintenance when needed. Communicate with Parks and Recreation staff concerning park use, incidents, accidents, facility issues, and contract adherence.

Responsible for overseeing proper operation and maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and physical facilities in the assigned areas. Checks recreation area, equipment and supplies for hazardous conditions or materials. Reports accidents and administers first aid as necessary. Completes and distributes necessary forms and related paperwork (i.e.; attendance records.) Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Ability to learn methods and practices of field maintenance. Ability to learn how to operate recreation scheduling software. Ability to adhere to program standards and objectives as outlined in Parks and Recreation ordinance and policy/procedures manual. Ability to give and enforce orders firmly but tactfully. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public, other employees, and officials. Ability to perform various job tasks in all weather conditions and under various physical exertion and energy requirements. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 45 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

**Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalent diploma.

Must possess a valid driver's license to operate company vehicle and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.

A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

SPECIAL PREFERENCES

Prefer the ability to communicate in English and Spanish. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide excellent customer service.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Must have the ability to pass a background screening through the Florida Department of Children and Family Services. Applicant must complete an Affidavit of Good Moral Character at the time of interview. **
