Abbott Lead QA Engineer in Witney, United Kingdom

Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops, and manufactures leading-edge blood glucose monitoring technology for use in both home and hospital settings, including our revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System.

In our Centre of Excellence in Witney, we design, develop and manufacture test strips and biosensors which are used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes.

As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in our Witney Centre of Excellence, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead QA Engineer to join our expanding highly skilled team.

The QAC team work closely with departments such as Operations, Technical, Engineering, R&D and Regulatory Affairs to achieve site goals relating to the development, manufacture, and delivery of quality and compliant products on time, in full and cost effectively.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to lead a team of Quality Engineers within a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environments. The position involves managing the handling of shop floor quality issues, working with a breadth of stakeholders to identify and deliver resolutions to all aspects of the business to ensure objectives are met whilst maintaining compliance with the quality system.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent), preferably in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline. Experience of working in QA is desirable but not essential as the ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and will have previous experience of working within a fast paced highly regulated environment.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the lead QA engineer will be able to: -

Lead, mentor and motivate a team of Quality Engineers in the Operations QA team.

Communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of management, peers, and key stakeholders, including timely escalation of quality issues.

Problem solve and provide solutions to a wide range of challenges.

Provide guidance, insight and training to the team and the wider business around quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Lead and/or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and projects.

Provide subject matter expertise during audits and inspections.

Represent QA in cross functional meetings (site and division), building and maintaining effective relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.

Effectively project manage significant change initiatives.
