The primary purpose of this position, Child Development Support Assistant (OA), NK-0303-02, is to serve as a Child Development Center Clerk, providing technical and clerical support for the smooth operation of the Child Development Program to include customer service, monitoring customer entry, data automation for maintaining files, file maintenance, payroll, financial record keeping and enrollment. Responsibilities - Perform the administrative and clerical duties of the Child Development Program. - Cordially greet parents, children and visitors upon entering the Child Development Center. -Administer records, forms, supplies and daily financial reports. -Use varied functions of multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. ONLY EXPERIENCE OBTAINED BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level, NK-01 (or equivalent in other pay systems) in the federal service in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes the ability to perform clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, answering telephone calls, maintaining records and composing reports for child development programs. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. This education must have been obtained in an accredited institution. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Have equivalent combinations of successfully completed education beyond the second year (in excess of 60 semester hours) and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. AND PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must possess the skill of a qualified typist, a minimum of 40 WPM proficiency. Applicants may meet this requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school of organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office or by self-certifying their proficiency (annotating in the assessment tool your typing speed.) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of format, rules, procedures, and operations applicable to clerical assignments to prepare/review routine correspondence/reports, screen telephone calls and visitors, maintain files/records, review and process mail, and perform clerical procedures to arrange a variety of material from different sources and other administrative work of organization. 2. Knowledge of automated and/or physical filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed. 3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases and graphs. 4. Knowledge of Child Development Programs, Instructions, directives, local policies and procedures. 5. Skill in typing, a qualified typist is required. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
