Robert Half Staff Accountant in York, Pennsylvania

Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team located in York, Pennsylvania. This role primarily focuses on payroll processing, general ledger reconciliations, and providing backup support for the accounts payable function. The selected candidate will be part of our team, contributing to the smooth and efficient operations of our accounting department.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and process bi-weekly payroll for over 140 employees, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations regarding payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and other related areas.

• Handle payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees promptly and professionally.

• Enter required wage garnishments from Local, State, or Federal agencies.

• Manage 401K plan reconciliation, calculation for matching contributions, and annual audit compliance.

• Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions and prepare payroll journal entries.

• Review and distribute year-end W-2s.

• Assist with month-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting as required.

• Provide support for internal and external audits by providing information and documentation as requested.

• Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department.

• Assist in processing accounts payable transactions, including verifying invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.

• Provide back-up support for accounts payable processing during peak times or staff absences. Requirements • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Proficiency in using ADP for payroll processing is mandatory.

• Must have a solid understanding of Month End Close procedures.

• Familiarity with General Ledger management is required.

• Prior experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role is desirable.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

• Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, is expected.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large amounts of data.

• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and ethical standards.
