The Oracle Database Engineering - Tools and Application team is building the next generation mission critical development tools, applications and analytics on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure using state of the art technologies - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Machine Learning, AI, APEX UI, Autonomous Database Service, ORDS and REST API, API Gateway , Industry Standard Authorization and Authentication mechanism, Python and Unix Development framework. You will bring your talent, self-motivation, and team-oriented approach to build high-quality development tools and applications to be used in development process of Oracle Database products. You have solid experience in development tools and application, technical depth in one or more technologies (e.g., Cloud Infrastructure , Oracle Database , APEX UI, REST API, Python and Unix Development framework). You have a strong passion for growing teams and individuals, as well as for best practices in software development, automation, and quality.

Responsibilities

As an engineering manager, your responsibilities will include:

• This position requires hands-on experience in programming

• Provide leadership, direction, and strategy.

• Establishing and development of organization to meet and implement strategy.

• Coaching, mentoring, and developing the best talent.

• Attracting talent and motivating the team.

• Provide technical leadership to software developers.

• Establish achievements and deliverables, as the need arises.

• Identify areas for improvement, and develop project plans to resolve gaps and findings.

• Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide development teams to engineer and add capabilities to the database engineering tools and applications.

• Act as an ultimate escalation point for critical issues.

• Collaborate with geographically distributed teams and collaborators.

• Drive process improvement and implementation projects through coordination with service teams.

• Design and implement service reliability and performance improvements

• Promote writing high-quality, production-ready code

• Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovation that improves search scalability, relevancy, and user experience

• Ensure high product quality through meticulous code reviews, bug fixing, and testing

Candidate Profile:

• BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related fields with 5+ years of professional development experience in multiples areas - Oracle Database and PLSQL , APEX UI, Python and Unix Development framework, Analytics and Machine Learning, ORDS, REST API and API Gateway.

• Need to have hands-on experience in programming preferably in Oracle Database and PLSQL/SQL programing , Python and Unix Development framework.

• 2 years of experience leading and managing a team of software engineers/developers.

• Experience in developing highly scalable end-to-end software solutions.

• Strong work ethic, flexibility, and confirmed attention to quality and detail.

• Experience building tools and applications used in release and development process is a plus.
