Digital Ethics & Compliance (DE&C) is part of E&C organization and focuses on what the organization needs by ensuring:

E&C commits to:

  • Collaborate across all E&C teams and partner with GD&T stakeholders to embed ethics and compliance as part of the way everyone works at Takeda.

DE&C Team addresses digital, data and compliance risks by:

  • Providing a RE&C framework, SOP and other tools that supports GD&T organization to incorporate Ethics and Privacy by Design in their Data and Technology programs and platforms.

  • Deploying the Global E&C Programs towards strengthening Takeda Ethical culture, Risk Management and Regulatory compliance.

  • Acting as a E&C authority, trusted partner, and collaborator to ensure all digital operations are compliant and ethical, while also leveraging the latest technologies to drive innovation and growth.

  • Works with BU/BFs and GD&T to ensure that data and digital technologies are embedding ethics and compliance in the design on the products and platforms.

ROLE SUMMARY

This role, Head of Digital Ethics & Compliance – Global Portfolio Division , is designed for a leader who excels in setting strategic direction and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. Your mission will be to ensure Takeda's activities not only comply with privacy, data protection, and Trust or Ethical AI regulations but also adhere to our high ethical standards, thus maintaining our leadership in ethical biopharmaceutical innovation. Through your leadership, you will empower your team to navigate the complexities of digital ethics and compliance with confidence, promoting a proactive and inclusive approach to compliance and ethical decision-making.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Proactive Risk Management

  • Lead a forward-thinking approach to risk management where digital initiatives are proactively assessed for AI, privacy, and data protection risks.

  • You will partner and empower your team of DE&C Officers to partner, with stakeholders across GPD to identify and implement effective risk mitigations, fostering a culture of anticipation and preparedness rather than reaction, while also enabling business-critical digital initiatives.

Team Performance

  • Continue to build and lead a high performing team, enabling talent generation for DE&C.

  • Develop and implement clear, achievable goals (i) reflecting GPD-specific as well as enterprise-wide DE&C priorities and (ii) enhancing the efficacy and efficiency of the GPD Digital Ethics & Compliance team in collaboration with the broader E&C embedded teams and the Global DE&C Centre of Excellence.

  • This role is about fostering a culture of excellence, where timely and accurate completion of privacy and data protection tasks is a shared responsibility.

  • You will be a member of the DE&C leadership team, and partner with Global leaders to provide guidance, support, and resources that enable DE&C Officers to meet the team’s objectives, driving the team towards collective success.

Collaborative Compliance Excellence

  • Foster a collaborative environment where privacy and data protection practices across Portfolio’s Division BUs are continuously reviewed and enhanced to meet not just the local and global regulatory requirements but also to embody Takeda’s high ethical standards.

  • Encourage a proactive stance on compliance, where Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers feel supported in their efforts to align with both the letter and the spirit of the law.

  • Champion, in partnership with the Global DE&C team, the continuous improvement of privacy and data protection practices and processes with a spirit of innovation and foresight.

  • Encourage a team environment where innovative ideas are welcomed and explored, ensuring that Takeda not only adheres to current best practices but also leads in the development of future standards for ethical innovation.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in Law, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Specialization or certifications in data protection, data privacy, AI governance, or digital ethics are highly desirable.

  • Deep expertise in privacy and data protection, and either experience or a strong interest in AI governance. Exposure to and familiarity with data and technology regulatory trends globally. Proven track record of effectively managing risks throughout the digital product lifecycle is highly desirable.

  • Experienced enterprise leader with 10+ years of relevant experience. Experience in a regulated industry, and the pharmaceutical industry in particular, is highly desirable.

  • Experience forging strong connections with and advising senior leaders. Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and with diverse teams in a matrixed global organization.

  • Consistently delivers results. Able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and priorities.

  • Strategic mindset, capable of seeing the bigger picture and driving change.

  • Able to manage complexity and ambiguity and to develop and apply pragmatic solutions to complex legal, regulatory and industry issues.

  • High ethical standards and integrity. Commitment to serving as role model for values, ethics, and values-based decision making.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams towards success and to lead change efforts. Proven skills to transform ideas into effective communications and materials (presentations, written documents, email, etc.).

  • Exceptional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for this role. Proficiency in other languages will be considered as a plus.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$205,100.00 - $322,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
